The Robot
This unused mascot was shown at Duocon 2024. It was one of two mascot options, the other being the 2010 owl, and after Duolingo's founder conducted an A/B test with his family, they preferred the owl mascot and the robot design became unused.

Prototype Owl
This is the prototype icon for the 2010 Duolingo app. It was used in the early days of the app, but was not used in the final version of the app.
First Edition
The first official Duolingo app icon. It was used from 2011 to 2012.
Classic 3D
The second official Duolingo app icon. It was used from 2012 to 2013.

Flat Era
The third official Duolingo app icon. It was used from 2013 to 2019.

Original Duolingo ABC app icon — a free literacy app for kids ages 3–8. Released on iOS in March 2020; Android followed in 2022.
